How do I document work quickly and easily?
You CAN use a phone camera! Here are some tips and best practices. To effectively document archival or art materials, capture comprehensive context by photographing objects from many angles—including backs, covers, spines, and any inscriptions—along with close-up details you love and reference points like page numbers or scale. Use the best lighting you can, ideally soft outdoor light or bright, even indoor light, to make features clear. Finally, keep large batches of images organized with photo-management tools and captions so you can easily track, sort, and retrieve materials later.

Take down request.
If images of album covers or back cover artwork appear in our digital archive and you would like them removed from public view, you may submit a request at any time. We encourage you to consider this thoughtfully. The purpose of this archive is to document and contextualize Mexican and Latin American vinyl records through their visual and material culture, preserving design, language, and historical context for present and future generations.
This archive does not host or distribute music or audio recordings. It is limited to images of record sleeves, liner notes, and related visual materials that form part of the cultural, political, and public record surrounding these releases.
If you prefer, you may request that access to specific images be limited rather than fully removed. This allows the material to be preserved for historical reference while restricting public visibility.
If you are the copyright holder, a family member, or have other rights-related concerns and do not wish for album artwork to appear in this archive, you may request removal or restricted access by contacting us at: archivosonorolatino [at] gmail.com.
We are committed to honoring artists, designers, labels, and communities through responsible documentation and cultural care.
About the archive.
This archive documents and preserves the visual and material culture of Mexican and Latin American vinyl records. Album covers, back cover art, liner notes, and label designs carry stories about place, politics, migration, and everyday life that are often overlooked in mainstream music histories. Many of these materials were created for circulation, not preservation, and are at risk of being lost over time. By collecting and contextualizing this ephemera, the archive seeks to honor the artists, designers, labels, and communities who shaped these records and to ensure that their visual histories remain accessible for future generations.
