EXPLORE THE ARHCIVE

Archivo Sonoro Latino is a digital archive dedicated to preserving the rich legacy of Latin music on vinyl. Built from the personal collection of enlasnubes, the archive is shaped by years of record collecting, research, and care. Through album artwork, liner notes, and cultural documentation, it honors the sounds, histories, and community memory carried through Latin American music across generations.

You CAN use a phone camera! Here are some tips and best practices. To effectively document archival or art materials, capture comprehensive context by photographing objects from many angles—including backs, covers, spines, and any inscriptions—along with close-up details you love and reference points like page numbers or scale. Use the best lighting you can, ideally soft outdoor light or bright, even indoor light, to make features clear. Finally, keep large batches of images organized with photo-management tools and captions so you can easily track, sort, and retrieve materials later.

Have records you’d like to share with the archive? Donations help keep these sounds, stories, and memories alive. If you’re interested in contributing vinyl, contact us with a brief description of the records and their origins, email the Archive team at archivosonorolatino [at] gmail.com. This archive documents and preserves the visual and material culture of Mexican and Latin American vinyl records. Album covers, back cover art, liner notes, and label designs carry stories about place, politics, migration, and everyday life that are often overlooked in mainstream music histories. Many of these materials were created for circulation, not preservation, and are at risk of being lost over time. By collecting and contextualizing this ephemera, the archive seeks to honor the artists, designers, labels, and communities who shaped these records and to ensure that their visual histories remain accessible for future generations.
